Calver is a small village in Derbyshire, closer to Sheffield and Chesterfield than Derby.
We would like Breakout delegates to do their bit for the environment by taking public transport. If you need to drive, there will be chance to offset your carbon at the event.
If you are coming by train and / or bus:
To Chesterfield:
We will arrange pickups from Chesterfield railway station on Friday evening and will drop people back off there on the Sunday. You need to say you require this service on registering. The cost will be £1 per head each way.
To Grindleford
The nearest local railway station to Cliff College is Grindleford, just a 10 minute drive away. It is on the Hope Valley line, which runs between Manchester and Sheffield.
Trains to Grindleford are about one per hour on Friday evenings and Sundays. The journey takes 15 minutes from Sheffield and an hour from Manchester Picadilly.

To Sheffield
On the Friday evening, it is possible to catch a bus from just outside Sheffield station to Cliff College – you would catch either the 240 or the 214. The journey to Cliff on either bus takes about half an hour.

If you are coming by car / minibus / coach:
From the M1:
- Exit at Junction 29
- Take the A617 towards Chesterfield / Matlock
- At the roundabout, take the A619 towards Bakewell and Buxton
- At the roundabout, take the A623 to Stockport and Calver
- Turn right onto Cliff Lane.
From the M60:
- Exit at junction 1
- Take A5145 to Stockport (West) and centre
- At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Heaton Lane (Manchester / A6)
- Turn right onto A6
- At the roundabout, take the A623 towards Chesterfield/Sheffield
- Stay on A623 towards Sheffield
- Turn left onto Cliff Lane.
